Three Days Before Eid, Police Chief States Peak Exodus Traffic Occurring Today
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit has predicted that peak exodus traffic will occur three days before Eid. This prediction was announced following his inspection of the Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Semarang City, Central Java, on Monday (16 March 2026).
“We will face peak exodus traffic on H-3. Of course, we hope that Central Java specifically can provide the best service,” said Listyo whilst giving a statement to the media.
During his inspection of the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Listyo acknowledged receiving briefings on preparations to welcome peak exodus traffic from the Central Java Regional Police Chief, the Central Java Transportation Department, and PT Jasamarga. The briefing covered plans for implementing local and national one-way systems and odd-even vehicle regulations.
Listyo also appreciated the launch of the Central Java Regional Police Traffic Information System (Sipolan), an artificial intelligence-based service accessible via WhatsApp application 24 hours a day. Through this service, travellers can obtain information about traffic conditions, alternative routes, rest area locations, service posts, and emergency contact numbers integrated with the National Police’s Call Centre 110.
“Of course, our hope as we approach Eid is that the accident rate can remain lower compared to the previous year,” said Listyo.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of PT Jasamarga Semarang-Batang, Nasrullah, predicted peak exodus traffic on the Trans-Java Toll Road will occur on 18 March 2026. “We estimate peak exodus traffic will occur on 18 March 2026, where the number of vehicles transacting at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate heading towards Semarang during peak time is estimated at 68,900,” he said.
He explained that during peak exodus traffic, the number of vehicles passing through the Kalikangkung Toll Gate can reach 4,300 vehicles per hour. “Currently it is still at 2,300 per hour,” said Nasrullah.
For Sunday (15 March 2026), the number of vehicles passing through the Kalikangkung Toll Gate reached 33,000. “Since H-10 until yesterday, 122,000 vehicles have passed through the Kalikangkung Toll Gate heading towards Semarang,” said Nasrullah.
Nasrullah noted a significant increase in vehicle traffic on the Trans-Java Toll Road, particularly heading towards Semarang, already became apparent from 14 March 2026. “Per hour it was still at around two thousand vehicles passing through, but there was already a noticeable increase compared to normal levels,” he said.
He assured that the Semarang-Batang toll section is ready to welcome exodus travellers. “All of our construction work was completed before H-10 Eid. So currently there is no construction work on the Semarang-Batang toll road section,” he said.
“However, our preservation team is available 24 hours to handle any issues, for example if a pothole appears, we are always ready,” added Nasrullah.
