Jakarta (ANTARA) - Beef prices at Tomang Market in West Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, have reached Rp160,000 per kilogram three days before Eid, an increase from the previous price of Rp140,000. A trader named Adi (37) in Jakarta said on Wednesday that the rise has been in place since seven days before Eid. “Currently, beef prices have hit Rp160,000 per kilogram. That’s been the case since H-7 Eid,” Adi stated. Adi explained that now almost all types of beef cuts are sold at the same price, including thigh to shank portions. “Previously, it was Rp140,000 to Rp150,000. Now everything is the same, Rp160,000,” he said. He suspects this is triggered by the high price of beef. “Compared to last year, buyers have slightly decreased. Perhaps because the current prices are quite high,” he clarified. He added that last Eid, beef prices were still at Rp150,000 per kilogram, which was considered more affordable for the public. “If the price is like that, it’s usually bustling, with more buyers,” he said. Nevertheless, he assured that beef supply remains secure without any issues. “I get supply from the Cakung Animal Slaughterhouse (RPH) managed by Perumda Dharma Jaya, owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” he stated. He also predicted a surge in buyers from two days to one day before Eid. Although, according to Adi, it won’t be as crowded as in previous years. The selling price conditions for beef are also experienced by other sellers, such as Risky (35) and Tomi (40).
