Three-Day Long Weekend: KAI Serves 554,407 Passengers
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that 554,407 passengers used long-distance and local train services on the islands of Java and Sumatra during the first three days of the Ascension of Jesus Christ long weekend.
As of Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM, ticket sales for the departure period of May 13-17, 2026, had reached 861,926 tickets.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, said that the number is still increasing, in line with the high public interest in traveling during the long holiday by train.
“Long weekends always bring about very dynamic public movement. We see an increase in travel to tourist cities, culinary centers, and educational areas,” said Anne in a statement received on Saturday (16/5).

Pasarsenen: 55,663 passengers
Gambir: 52,293 passengers
Yogyakarta: 52,111 passengers
Semarang Tawang: 34,994 passengers
Bandung: 31,995 passengers
Surabaya Gubeng: 28,670 passengers
Purwokerto: 26,951 passengers
Solo Balapan: 26,543 passengers
Surabaya Pasar Turi: 25,690 passengers
Malang: 24,988 passengers
Anne said that the high volume of travel to Yogyakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Solo, Purwokerto, and Malang shows the strong appeal of these cities during the long holiday.
“Some passengers use the long weekend to enjoy cultural and culinary tourism, while others travel for family, education, and social activities in various regions,” she said.
KAI advises passengers to arrive earlier at the station, pay attention to the departure schedule, and ensure that tickets and travel documents are well prepared. Passengers can also use the Access by KAI application to monitor schedules, ticket availability, and various service information in real time.
“Public enthusiasm during the long weekend is still quite high, and travel is still ongoing until the end of the holiday period. KAI is committed to maintaining services so that the public can enjoy safe, smooth, comfortable travel, and stay connected with various important activities during the long holiday,” Anne concluded.
