Three damaged bridges in Bireuen, Aceh, successfully repaired by central government

Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Regent of Bireuen, Aceh, Mukhlis, has stated that three bridges damaged following flash floods in the region have been successfully addressed or rebuilt by the central government through the Ministry of Public Works (PU).

“For this year, three bridges have been handled, namely the Krueng Tingkeim Bridge and the Teupin Mane Bridge (under central authority), and the Pante Lhong Bridge (under regional authority),” Mukhlis said in Bireuen, Aceh, on Monday.

Mukhlis noted that the floods in late November 2025 caused extensive infrastructure damage. A total of 12 bridges along the Peusangan River—ranging from Peusangan Siblah to South Peusangan and Pante Rhue Pante Peusangan—were destroyed, including four suspension bridges.

So far, he stated, two bridges under the central government’s jurisdiction have been addressed. The first is the Kutablang Bridge, which serves as a national access route between Aceh and North Sumatra. It has completed testing and has been functional since Sunday (20/9).

The third, the Pante Lhong steel truss bridge, is currently under construction; although it falls under regional authority, the repair process is being assisted by the central government.

He emphasised that the availability of the Kutablang, Teupin Mane, and Pante Lhong bridges is the result of persistent struggle and coordination with the central government, ensuring the process was swift and timely.

“The presence of these bridges is the result of the struggle and coordination we have continuously maintained with the central government,” he said.

“We have also proposed the construction of three more bridges to the Central Government, which are slated for construction next year,” he added.

On this occasion, Mukhlis expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo and the Ministry of Public Works for their attention to rebuilding Bireuen Regency, which was devastated by flash floods.

“Our thanks go to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, and the entire central government apparatus for their rapid response and attention to the infrastructure in Bireuen,” Mukhlis concluded.
