Three corporations faced a sentencing hearing on Monday at the Corruption Court in the Central Jakarta District Court over an alleged corruption case involving the management of investment funds at PT Tani Group Indonesia (TaniHub) from 2019 to 2023. The three corporations are PT Tani Group Indonesia (PT TGI), PT Tani Hub Indonesia (PT THI), and PT Tani Supply Indonesia (PT TSI). “The corporate defendants TaniHub et al. have a sentencing agenda,” said Central Jakarta District Court spokesperson Andi Saputra to reporters. In this case, the three corporations are accused of causing state losses amounting to USD 25 million, equivalent to Rp364.22 billion. The state losses allegedly occurred because the three corporations carried out legal actions that enriched several parties, namely enriching PT TGI by USD 25 million or Rp364.22 billion, Ivan Arie Sustiawan by Rp2.29 billion, and another party by Rp92.89 million. The funds were then channelled to PT TaniHub Indonesia amounting to Rp263.91 billion and PT Tani Supply Indonesia amounting to Rp77.22 billion. Subsequently, funds from these two entities were further distributed to recipients including Pamitra Wineka amounting to Rp1.17 billion, Asti Setia Utami Rp28.58 billion, and PT Jaring Pangan Indonesia Rp1.93 billion. Apart from the corporate defendants, six individual defendants in this case have already been convicted. They include Donald Surjana Wihardja and Aldi Adrian Hartanto from PT MDI, Nicko Widjaja and William Gozali from PT BVI, as well as Ivan Arie Sustiawan and Edison Tobing from PT Tani Group Indonesia (TaniHub) Group. Donald and Aldi were sentenced to 5 years and 2 years in prison respectively, along with fines of Rp750 million subsidiary to 165 days imprisonment and Rp250 million subsidiary to 90 days imprisonment. Nicko and William were sentenced to 3 years and 2 years in prison respectively, with fines of Rp350 million subsidiary to 110 days imprisonment and Rp250 million subsidiary to 90 days imprisonment. Ivan and Edison were sentenced to 9 years and 7 years in prison respectively, fined Rp1 billion subsidiary to 190 days imprisonment, and ordered to pay restitution of Rp3.26 billion subsidiary to 4 years imprisonment and Rp1.06 billion subsidiary to 3 years imprisonment.
