Three Contractors Who Bribed Former Rejang Lebong Regent Sentenced to Two Years in Prison
The panel of judges at the Bengkulu Corruption Court has sentenced three contractors involved in a project fee bribery case within the Rejang Lebong Regency Government to two years in prison. The three defendants are Irsyad Satria Budiman of PT Statika Mitra Saran, Edi Manggala of CV Manggala Utama, and Youki Yusdiantoro of CV Alpagker Abadi. In addition to the prison sentences, the judges also imposed a fine of Rp100 million each, with a subsidiary sentence of 60 days of confinement.
“All three were found legally and convincingly guilty of giving money and goods to former Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari through the former Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency of Rejang Lebong Regency, Hary Eko Purnomo,” said Chief Judge Ahmad Syah Ade Mori at the Bengkulu Corruption Court on Wednesday (19/8).
The bribes were given to secure work packages within the Rejang Lebong Regency Public Works Agency for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The judges ruled that the time the defendants had already spent in detention would be fully deducted from their sentences.
The verdict is in line with the demands of the Corruption Eradication Commission prosecutors. Previously, the prosecutors had sought two-year prison sentences for the three businessmen based on the results of a sting operation and evidence presented at trial.
“We demanded the same sentence because the considerations regarding the procurement of goods and services in Rejang Lebong Regency are the same, the objects are almost identical, with the same witnesses and evidence,” said KPK prosecutor Dian Hamisena.
In their considerations, the judges noted that an aggravating factor was that the defendants’ actions did not support the government’s anti-corruption programme. Mitigating factors included that the defendants had no prior convictions and were the breadwinners of their families.
The three defendants were found to have violated Article 605 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article VII point 48 of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments, in conjunction with Article 127 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
