Three Codes Used by 'Koh John' to Bribe Customs Officials: BC, Sales 2, and Biru
KPK prosecutors presented PT BlueRay Cargo HRD Viny Liverie Lie as a witness in the bribery trial of officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance. Viny revealed several codes used by the company to refer to Customs.
“Does the witness understand that Customs is initialled BC? What else? Besides the initials BC, are there any?” asked KPK prosecutor M Takdir Suhan during the hearing at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (14 July 2026).
“Sales 2,” the witness replied.
The prosecutor again asked if there were other codes for referring to Customs. Viny said the company also frequently used the code ‘Biru’.
“Sales 2, is that the code for Customs? What else?” the prosecutor asked.
“Biru,” the witness answered.
“Biru? Okay, fine. And these terms were initiated by Koh John (Blueray Cargo boss John Field)?” the prosecutor asked.
“Yes, yes,” the witness replied.
She stated that employees simply followed John’s terminology. She noted that the employees understood the money prepared by the company was intended for Customs officials.
“So it was copied and pasted by the witness and other employees, who understood that it was money to be given to Customs. Is that correct?” the prosecutor asked.
“Yes,” the witness replied.
The three defendants in this trial are: 1. Rizal, Director of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs, 2. Sisprian Subiaksono, Sub-directorate Head of Intelligence at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs, and 3. Orlando Hamonangan, Head of Customs Intelligence Section I at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs. The three Customs officials are charged with accepting bribes and gratuities totalling Rp 78.8 billion. The money was provided by John Field as head of Blueray Cargo (Group), Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo as Operational Manager of Port Custom Clearance at Blueray Cargo (Group), and Andri as Head of the Import Document Team at Blueray Cargo (Group). John Field, Dedy, and Andri have been found guilty and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 1.5 to 2 years.
