Three-Car Pile-Up on Sleman’s West Ring Road

A three-car pile-up occurred on the West Ring Road, Jalan Siliwangi, in Turusan hamlet, Banyuraden, Gamping, Sleman. The crash was suspected to have been triggered when one car lost control and entered the opposing lane.

“The collision occurred at around 6.10am on Wednesday (29 October). It is suspected to have started when a car lost control and entered the opposing lane,” Sleman Police public relations chief First Inspector Argo Anggoro told detikJogja on Wednesday (28 October 2026).

Argo said the vehicles involved were a Mitsubishi SS driven by J, 40, from Bantul; a Honda Jazz driven by S, 44, from Tempel, Sleman; and a Daihatsu Xenia driven by S, 59, from Moyudan, Sleman.

“The Mitsubishi SS was travelling from south to north. It is suspected to have lost control, hit the road barrier, then entered the opposing lane and struck two cars travelling from north to south,” he said.

Argo said several drivers and passengers sustained bruising in the crash and received outpatient medical treatment.

“There have been no reports of fatalities. Material losses from the collision are estimated at Rp50 million,” he said.

Argo added that officers had examined the condition of those involved and gathered witness statements and evidence. Further information would be provided later.

“Officers from the Sleman Police Traffic Unit attended and secured the scene, examined the condition of those involved, and collected witness statements and evidence for further investigation,” he said.

Argo urged the public to take care when driving and remain focused throughout their journeys. Drivers were also asked to adjust their speed to road conditions and ensure their vehicles were roadworthy.

“Drivers are advised to rest if they feel tired or unwell. Obey traffic signs and road markings for everyone’s safety,” he concluded.
