Three tower base transceiver station (BTS) modules have been stolen from three different locations in Karangasem Regency. The BTS modules, belonging to PT Indosat, XL, and Huawei, were UBBP and SFP modules. Police are currently hunting for the perpetrators of the theft.

Karangasem Police Public Relations Head, Ipda I Nengah Artono, stated that the case was discovered on Monday (13/7) but was only reported to the Karangasem Police on Saturday (18/7). After receiving the report, police immediately processed the crime scene and launched an investigation to uncover the perpetrators.

“Based on the report, the victim claims to have suffered a loss of around Rp 7.5 million,” Artono said on Sunday (19/7/2026).

The case came to light after an alarm indicating a board was not in position went off. The alarm signalled that a device was missing. The complainant, named Herpansyah, then checked the tower location in the Jasri Kelod area, Subagan, Karangasem.

Upon arriving at the location, the complainant and several others entered the DMT tower area to open the BTS rack. The inspection revealed that one UBBP module and five SFP modules were missing. The complainant then checked two other locations and found that the same devices had also disappeared. In total, two UBBP modules and seven SFP modules were stolen.

“The perpetrators are still under investigation. We hope they will be arrested soon to be held accountable for their actions,” Artono said.
