Three Body Parts of Mutilation Victim Saepul Found, One Still Being Searched For
Additional remains of a 51-year-old man identified only as K, the victim of an alleged mutilation by 26-year-old Saepul, have been discovered. Police are still searching for another part of the victim’s leg.
On Thursday, police found two pieces of the victim’s leg in the Grogol River in Depok, West Java. The remains were discovered in a sack in the river’s flow.
“A day after yesterday’s discovery of the thigh, today we found the calf section of the leg, a pair. We suspect these belong to the victim,” said Ipda Breggy Yesaya Imanuel Sutijono, Special Criminal Unit 2, Unit 1, Sub-directorate of Violent Crimes, Directorate of General Criminal Investigation, Polda Metro Jaya, to reporters on Thursday (20/8/2026).
Breggy said Saepul separated the victim’s body from the legs. The legs were then cut into four parts. Police are still working to locate one remaining part of the victim’s leg.
“The lower section was cut into four parts, the thigh and the calf, like that,” he explained.
“One remaining part is still being searched for. We are also continuing to coordinate with the water resources agency in Depok and the PPSU in Depok,” he added.
The recovered body parts were taken to the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati for further identification.
On Wednesday (19/8), two officers from the Depok Water Resources Agency discovered one part of the victim’s leg while cleaning the Limo River. The finding was reported to police and taken to the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati for identification.
The case came to light after a sack containing the victim’s body was found on vacant land on 24 July 2026. Residents did not suspect the sack contained human remains until Tuesday, 4 August, when locals attempted to burn what they believed was a sack of rubbish.
Based on identification results, crime scene processing, witness statements, and other evidence, the police investigation led to a man named Saepul (26). Saepul was eventually arrested by the Sub-directorate of Violent Crimes team of Polda Metro Jaya while fleeing in Pandeglang, Banten, on Wednesday (5/8).
