Three Blitar Prison Officers Proposed for Severe Sanctions Over Special Cell Trading Scandal
The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen Pas) has stated that three officers at Blitar Class IIB Prison are proposed for severe disciplinary sanctions by the East Java Regional Office of Ditjen Pas, stemming from allegations of trading special cells with premium facilities to inmates charged with corruption offences (Tipikor).
“At present, the East Java Regional Office of Ditjen Pas has initiated the process of proposing severe disciplinary penalties to the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections,” said Rika Aprianti, Deputy Head of the Cooperation Sub-Directorate of Ditjen Pas, when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026).
“A joint examination has been conducted by the Internal Compliance Team of the Directorate General of Corrections together with the Internal Compliance Team of Ditjen Pas East Java, and the process of imposing disciplinary sanctions is currently underway after gathering relevant evidence,” she added.
Rika stated that, in line with the emphasis from the Minister of Immigration and Corrections as well as the Director General of Corrections, there will be no leniency for anyone committing violations, including staff members.
“Because the dignity of the corrections system is vital to maintain its integrity. This has been proven by the firm action taken against 774 immigration and corrections staff, with 71 of them already dismissed,” she said.
Several prison officers are suspected of selling special cells to three corruption case inmates for tariffs of up to Rp 100 million per person.
The three Tipikor inmates are former officials from the Blitar Regency Government (Pemkab Blitar).
Currently, the suspected perpetrators are undergoing examination at the East Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) in Surabaya.
The Head of Blitar Class IIB Prison, Iswandi, said the incident came to light when he received complaints from the three corruption case inmates.
The complaints were lodged two weeks ago, on the first day Iswandi assumed the role of Head of Blitar Class IIB Prison, replacing the previous official, Romi Novitrion.
According to him, two security officers with initials RJ and W are suspected of offering a special cell named D1 Room to the three Tipikor inmates at the end of 2025.
“These two security officers (RJ and W) offered it to the three Tipikor inmates when they first entered here. Offering perhaps for comfort. It’s called D1 Room,” he said on Tuesday (28/4/2026), quoted from Kompas.com.
He suspects that the two officers carried out their actions with the knowledge of the prison’s Head of Security with initials ADK.
“But perhaps (the extortion) was with the knowledge of the head of security (ADK),” he said.
