Three Beggars Arrested in Karawang, Two Others Remain at Large

The Karawang District Police (Polresta Karawang) have uncovered a robbery case on Jalan Cilutung, Sukasari Village, Cibuaya District. Three perpetrators have been arrested, while two others remain on the wanted list and are still being pursued by officers. Karawang Police Chief, Commissioner Mario Prahatinto, stated that the case was solved through the swift work of the Jatanras Resmob Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit. Based on the results of the crime scene investigation, witness statements, and field data analysis, officers managed to identify the perpetrators and make arrests in stages. The robbery occurred on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, at around 05.00 WIB. The victim, identified as Romli, a casual daily labourer, was on his way to work in East Karawang riding a Honda Beat motorcycle. While passing through Jalan Cilutung, the victim was intercepted by a group of perpetrators on several motorcycles. One of the perpetrators threatened the victim with a sharp weapon before seizing the vehicle and the victim’s valuables. In addition to stealing the Honda Beat, the perpetrators also took a wallet containing an ID card, tax number, ATM card, vehicle registration, and a mobile phone. The victim suffered a loss of approximately Rp15 million and immediately reported the incident to the police. Following an intensive investigation, officers arrested the first suspect, Bayu Pangestu Hermawan, on Monday, 27 July 2026, at a rented house in West Karawang. During questioning, the suspect admitted his involvement, leading investigators to pursue the other suspects. On the same day, officers arrested Oktariandi Maulana Putra at his residence in Jayakerta District. Subsequently, in the early hours of Tuesday, officers arrested Warta, who is suspected of acting as a fence for the stolen motorcycle. Two other suspects, identified as Oman and Badar, managed to escape and are currently being hunted by the Resmob Team of the Karawang Police Criminal Investigation Unit. Police seized evidence including a red Honda PCX motorcycle used in the crime and a toy pistol used to threaten the victim. A sickle and the victim’s Honda Beat motorcycle, which is believed to have been sold, are still being sought.
