Karawang Police announced an operational restriction policy on three-axle or larger freight vehicles within Karawang District. The restriction commenced on 13 March and concluded on 29 March 2026.

The Public Relations Section Chief of Karawang Police, Ipda Cep Wildan, stated that the restriction was based on a Joint Decision Letter (SKB) between the Directorate General of Land Transport, National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri), and the Directorate General of Highways, with reference numbers: KP-DRJD 854 of 2026, HK.201/1/21/DRJD/2026, Kep/43/II/2026, and 20/KPTS/Db/2026. This measure was implemented to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for those returning home.

“The restriction shall be implemented starting Friday, 13 March 2026 at 00.00 WIB, until Sunday, 29 March 2026 at 24.00 WIB,” he stated on Tuesday (10 March).

Several categories of vehicles were prohibited from passing, including three-axle or larger freight vehicles, trailers, articulated lorries, and vehicles transporting excavated materials (soil, sand, stone), mineral products, and building materials.

Cep Wildan emphasised that there were exemptions for vehicles transporting vital logistics. Should any three-axle vehicles be found on toll roads, they would be diverted to alternative routes.

“Fuel and gas tankers, livestock transport, fertiliser, disaster relief aid, and essential foodstuffs such as rice, flour, and meat remain authorised to pass, provided they carry valid cargo documentation in compliance with applicable regulations,” he explained.

Karawang Police urged freight transport operators to comply with the established schedule to prevent vehicle congestion on main routes.

“Field personnel will be deployed to conduct supervision and enforcement against violators who continue to breach regulations during the restriction period. Non-compliant vehicles will be diverted through the nearest toll gate and directed to designated parking areas until the restriction period ends,” he concluded.

Travellers were advised to exercise greater caution, particularly those heading towards the southern Cianjur region. Astra Infra, as the toll road service provider, stands ready to serve those returning home for Eid celebrations.

The Karawang Traffic Police (Satlantas) would implement one-way and contra-flow systems should congestion occur at several points during the exodus and return journey for Eid 1447 H.

Evaluation results indicated that national fuel stocks remained sufficient to support community needs during the exodus and return journey period.
