To anticipate traffic congestion along the national arterial route at Gentong, Kadipaten District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, heading towards Central Java during the Eid exodus and return journey, Tasikmalaya City Police have prohibited three-axle freight vehicles from operating for 13 days from Friday 13 March at 24:00 WIB until Wednesday 25 March, in accordance with a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB 3 Menteri).

“We are requesting that three-axle freight vehicles be prohibited from operating on the National Arterial Route through Gentong, West Java and vice versa, except for vehicles transporting food staples, fuel and liquefied petroleum gas, which may continue operating. The return traffic flow is predicted to increase significantly on the national arterial route,” stated AKP Riki Kustiawan, Head of Traffic Unit at Tasikmalaya City Police, on Friday 13 March 2026.

Kustiawan explained that his office has been providing information to freight transport operators in Tasikmalaya City Police jurisdiction about the operational prohibition and the contents of the Joint Ministerial Decree. The measure will take effect on Friday 13 March at 24:00 WIB until Wednesday 25 March, with freight transport vehicles prohibited from operating except those carrying food staples, fuel and liquefied petroleum gas.

“Any freight transport vehicles that have already entered Tasikmalaya’s territory should proceed to designated parking areas in Rajapolah, Jamanis and Ciawi. This three-axle freight vehicle operating ban is a police measure to anticipate congestion on the national arterial route during the Eid exodus and return journey,” he stated.

According to Kustiawan, authorities have prepared alternative traffic routes in case of congestion on the Gentong national arterial route, diverting traffic via Jalan Ir Juanda towards Singaparna heading to Garut City, and alternative routes through Cihaurbeuti, Panumbangan, Panjalu towards Majalengka to Cirebon and then onto the Cipali Toll Road towards Bandung and Jakarta.

“The Eid exodus traffic from West Java through Gentong, Kadipaten towards Central Java on Friday 13 March was observed to still be light with no significant increase in departure traffic, including from Central Java through the flyover which appeared clear. However, congestion areas to watch out for include the Pamoyanan intersection, fuel station entry and exit points, and railway crossings,” he concluded.
