Three-Axle and Heavier Trucks Still Operating on Toll Roads; Transport Minister Confirms Penalties Will Be Enforced
Jakarta, Kompas.com — Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi continues to find three-axle and heavier trucks operating on toll roads during the 2026 Eid transport period.
These trucks should not be operating during the goods transport restrictions.
Certain cargo vehicles receive exemptions from these regulations. Exemptions apply to trucks carrying fuel, basic commodities, fertiliser, livestock, and other vital necessities.
“For those who violate, we are collaborating with the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police to take firm action in the form of sanctions,” said the Transport Minister in an official statement on Sunday (15/3/2026).
“This is being done to prioritise the safety and welfare of the public who will return to their hometowns to celebrate Eid,” Dudy continued.
Field inspections conducted on Saturday night through Sunday morning found a number of logistics vehicles that did not comply with the regulations.
Dudy stopped several of these vehicles for inspection.
Officials also provided education and explanations to drivers regarding the truck operational restrictions that have been set by the government.
The government previously issued a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) regarding restrictions on cargo vehicle operations during the 2026 Eid transport period.
The regulations cover cargo vehicles with three or more axles, vehicles with trailers, vehicles with semi-trailers, and cargo vehicles transporting mined materials, mining products, and building materials.
The restriction policy applies to freight transport businesses, cargo vehicle owners, and drivers to comply with operational rules during the Eid transport period.
“Based on the Joint Ministerial Decree, three-axle and heavier trucks are prohibited from operating on toll roads and non-toll roads during the Eid transport period, namely from 13 March 2026 at 12:00 local time until 29 March 2026 at 24:00 local time,” said Dudy.
