Three Arrested in Bandung for Drugging and Gang Raping 13-Year-Old Girl

Three people have been named as suspects in the alleged rape of a minor in Ciparay district, Bandung Regency. The suspects were detained by the Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit, accompanied by the Women and Children Protection Unit, to safeguard the victim. ‘That is correct, the perpetrators have been detained. The case is being handled in accordance with applicable legal provisions, prioritising the protection of the child,’ said Bandung Police Chief Commissioner Aldi Subartono on Friday, 3 July 2026. Of the three suspects arrested, one is a minor in conflict with the law, while the two adult suspects have been placed in detention at the Bandung Police headquarters. Aldi explained that the incident began when the 13-year-old victim was invited to meet one of the perpetrators via a messaging application on the night of Sunday, 28 June 2026, in Kampung Sapan, Sumbersari Village, Ciparay District. There, the victim was allegedly subjected to lewd acts and raped in turn by the perpetrators after being given alcoholic drinks and drugs. Following a report from the family, local residents helped secure the suspected perpetrators before handing them over to the police for further legal proceedings. ‘After receiving the report from the victim’s family, we conducted a series of professional investigations and inquiries, prioritising the principle of child protection,’ he stated. Police emphasised that the investigation is ongoing, with officers completing the case file, examining witnesses and evidence, and coordinating with public prosecutors before the case is transferred to the next stage. ‘Currently, investigators are still completing the case file. We are ensuring that the entire legal process is carried out professionally, objectively, transparently, and in accordance with statutory regulations,’ he said. The suspects are charged under Article 81 paragraph (2) of the Child Protection Law, Law Number 35 of 2014, as an amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002. Additionally, the suspects are charged under Article 415 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of nine years.
