Three arrested for robbery

JAKARTA (JP): Security guards of state Bank BNI arrested three men for allegedly damaging and removing money from an automatic teller machine (ATM) at one of the bank's East Jakarta branches late Saturday.

The three men, arrested at 10:45 p.m., were identified as Roy, Jason and Anwar.

Hanafi Harahap, 36, a Bank BNI employee, told police that the three were caught shortly after they took the cash out of the ATM on Jl. Paus in Pulogadung.

Hanafi, a resident of Jl. Deposito in Bekasi, said when the three left the ATM booth, he checked the machine and found it damaged.

The three were immediately arrested by the bank security guards and admitted that they had damaged the machine.

Police also seized Rp 100,000 (US$11.7O) from the men but there were no details about the tools used in the alleged crime. (emf)
