Three Arrested After Machete Attack on Police During Drug Raid in Central Kalimantan

Three suspected perpetrators have been arrested following an attack on police officers during a drug raid in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan. Katingan Police Chief AKBP Dodik Hartono confirmed the arrests on Monday, 6 July 2026, identifying the suspects by their initials N, R, and S. They were apprehended in different locations within the Central Katingan area, with operations concluding on Sunday, 5 July 2026. The suspects are currently undergoing questioning, and police have named some as suspects while investigations into others continue. The three are believed to have been involved in the attack against personnel from the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit, which resulted in the deaths of three officers. “They attacked with machetes and participated in the assault,” Dodik stated. Meanwhile, police are still pursuing the suspected drug dealer, identified by the initial B. The incident occurred during an operation targeting a suspected drug dealer in the early hours of Thursday, 2 July. During the raid, officers reportedly faced resistance from several individuals armed with sharp weapons. Aipda Yudhi Perdana Putra was killed in the line of duty, and Bripda Nopandri Ramadhana was later found dead in the Katingan River after being reported missing. The search for Aiptu Sumaryanto is still ongoing by a joint team. Dodik affirmed the police’s commitment to thoroughly investigating the case and pursuing all parties suspected of involvement in the attack on police personnel.
