Threads Users Can Now Send Direct Messages to Meta AI
Meta has introduced a direct messaging (DM) feature for its artificial intelligence assistant, Meta AI, on the Threads platform for users worldwide. The launch, reported on Monday, is a response to community feedback requesting the ability to interact with Meta AI without sharing conversations publicly.
This DM feature provides users with greater flexibility, allowing them to share Threads posts, images, links, or videos directly with Meta AI. It enables users to ask follow-up questions and explore topics in greater depth within a private, one-on-one conversation. Similar functionality is already available on Meta’s other applications, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The feature was first introduced in select countries, including Argentina, Malaysia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. While users cannot yet block the Meta AI account entirely, the company has provided an option to mark content as “not interested” to reduce its recommendations.
