Jakarta, KOMPAS.com - Residents are choosing to begin their Eid homecoming earlier than Kalideres Terminal in West Jakarta because the Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR) has been disbursed on Saturday 7 March 2026. One of them is Supriadi (38), a resident of Cengkareng who immediately used his THR to buy bus tickets for his family. ‘Fortunately, alhamdulillah the THR has already been disbursed this week. Rather than letting the money run out, it’s better to go home early,’ he told Kompas.com at Kalideres Terminal on Saturday. He is only accompanying the departure of his wife and child who are travelling home first. Supriadi said he typically sends his wife first to accompany his mother-in-law in their hometown. ‘Yes, at my mother-in-law’s village I happen to live alone; she is already elderly. It’s a pity, so every year I spend two weeks here (Jakarta), two weeks there (the village),’ he said. Although his wife and child have already left for Madiun today, Supriadi himself will only return closer to Eid al-Fitr as he is still working. He also said he is prepared to dip deeper into his pockets as the homecoming approaches Eid. ‘I’m still working. If I leave it late, usually three days before, it’s not certain. But it is usually expensive then, so it’s safer if I go alone.’ He also hopes this year’s homecoming will be safe and smooth and that bus fares won’t be expensive. Meanwhile, Herman (45), a trader who intends to return to his hometown of Purworejo, Central Java, has chosen to go home early to save on costs. ‘I run a trading business, not an office. I can take time off anytime, so I’ll go home first. I’ll continue trading in the village when the tickets are still cheap,’ Herman said. He said the price of AKAP bus tickets to Purworejo remains at normal levels, around Rp 250,000. ‘I’m travelling with Sinar Jaya for Rp 250,000; usually if you travel close to Eid it can be Rp 400,000 or more, almost double,’ he added. Going home early is also seen as more comfortable because it helps avoid traffic jams. ‘Better I save the money for extra snacks in the village later. And returning now, the tol (toll roads) are still clear, I don’t feel too tired, as I will resume trading in the village,’ he said.
