Thousands of Workers Stage Protest in Front of DPR This Morning, Demand Enactment of Labour Law
Thousands of workers will gather in front of the DPR RI building in Central Jakarta this morning to voice their demands. They are calling for the elimination of outsourcing and the enactment of the Labour Law.
The Public Relations Officer of the Central Jakarta Police Resort, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the protest will commence at 10:00 WIB on Thursday (16/4/2026). The action is being carried out by the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Metal Workers’ Federation (DPP FSPMI), with approximately 2,000 participants.
“The demands include abolishing outsourcing, rejecting low wages, and enacting the Labour Law in accordance with KSP-PB,” said Erlyn when contacted.
Via the X account @TMCPoldaMetro, the police predict traffic congestion along Jalan Gatot Soebroto towards Slipi during the protest. Motorists are urged to seek alternative routes.
“Traffic density is expected on roads around the DPR/MPR building area,” it stated.
“Motorists are advised to always follow the instructions and directions of officers on the ground for our mutual safety and smoothness,” it added.
