Jakarta — 2,031 visitors enjoyed the weekend holiday on Untung Jawa Island in the Thousand Islands Regency on Sunday (May 31). “Majority of tourists arrived via Tanjung Pasir Port in Tangerang Regency using traditional ferries,” said Untung Jawa Village Head Muslim in Jakarta on Monday. He added that 40 tourists arrived via Kali Adem Port in North Jakarta. He stated that the high number of visitors demonstrates Untung Jawa Island’s appeal as a marine tourism destination easily accessible from Jakarta and surrounding areas. “We are grateful that weekend visitor numbers were high, exceeding 2,000 people,” Muslim said. He noted that the high visitor numbers show Untung Jawa remains a popular choice for families and relatives to holiday. The village administration, along with relevant parties, has conducted monitoring and surveillance at various tourist spots to ensure safety, comfort, and order during the tourism activities. “We continue to coordinate with all stakeholders, from security personnel to tourism managers and local communities, so that visitors can enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday,” Muslim added. He noted that the busy tourist influx brings benefits to residents. “Homestays, water sports rentals, culinary businesses, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) have experienced increased economic activity over the weekend,” Rusli said. He urged tourists to maintain cleanliness and follow regulations while at the tourist area. “We invite all visitors to jointly maintain the cleanliness of Untung Jawa Island’s beaches and environment so that its beauty remains preserved and can be enjoyed by future tourists,” Rusli said.
