Thousands of Students Fail 'Maung School' Admission, Must Rush to Register at Regular Schools
The announcement of successful applicants for the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB) at Maung High Schools and Vocational Schools (SMA/SMK) was made on Monday (8/6/2026) at 10:00 WIB. Thousands of students who were declared unsuccessful in the Maung School registration have only a short window of time to register at regular schools outside the Maung School system. Based on monitoring by Republika at the Maung School of SMAN 1 Sindang in Indramayu Regency, the total number of applicants was 661 prospective students. However, only 384 prospective students were declared successful at the school. This means 277 prospective students were declared unsuccessful in applying to the Maung School. They are welcome to register for the SPMB at regular high schools and vocational schools. The SPMB registration for SMA/SMK 2026 in West Java, which opened on 29 May 2026, was originally set to close on Monday (8/6/2026) at 23:59 WIB. However, the latest announcement stated that the closing has been extended by one day to Tuesday (9/6/2026) to provide an opportunity for those wishing to register at regular schools. The situation was not unique to SMAN 1 Sindang; similar conditions occurred at other Maung Schools. At the Branch Office of the Education Department (KCD) Region IX of the West Java Provincial Education Office (covering the areas of Indramayu Regency and Majalengka Regency), there are two high schools and one vocational school designated as Maung Schools. The Head of KCD Region IX of the West Java Provincial Education Office, Dewi Nurhulaela, stated that in her working area, Maung Schools were designated at SMAN 1 Sindang in Indramayu Regency, SMAN 1 Majalengka, and SMKN 1 Majalengka. βThe enthusiasm of participants registering for Maung School is very high,β said Dewi.
