Thousands of SPPG Workers Rally in Tasikmalaya to Support Free Nutritious Meal Programme
Thousands of employees from the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) kitchens, part of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, gathered at the Tasikmalaya regent’s office to demonstrate their support for the initiative. The crowd, consisting of volunteers, kitchen managers, and local business operators, carried banners and delivered speeches emphasising that the programme has not only provided nutritious food for children but has also stimulated the local economy and created employment opportunities.
Ucu Supriatna, head of the SPPG Volunteer Association in Tasikmalaya Regency, stated that the rally was a show of support for the sustainability of President Prabowo Subianto’s programme. He noted that the initiative has had tangible benefits for the community, but expressed disappointment that members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) were not present to hear their aspirations.
Meanwhile, Rubi Azhara, a representative of the MBG Task Force in Tasikmalaya, acknowledged the public’s concerns and pledged to convey the volunteers’ aspirations to the relevant authorities. He revealed a significant administrative gap, explaining that while 300 SPPG kitchens are operating in the region, only nine have obtained the required Building Approval (PBG). Azhara added that efforts are underway to accelerate the licensing process, including the issuance of Building Approvals and Certificates of Function Worthiness (SLF), with 220 Health Worthiness Certificates (SLHS) and eight SLFs issued so far through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system.
