Thousands of residents from seven urban villages in Senen District, Central Jakarta, took part in a People’s Party to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the National Social Solidarity Day (HKSN) Monument on Tuesday.

The event, organised by the central government, presented a range of services and entertainment for the public, including the distribution of basic food packages, free health screenings, an MSME bazaar, competitions, and an entertainment stage featuring a number of capital city artists.

Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the activity gave residents the opportunity to obtain basic food assistance while also making use of free health screening services.

“The free health screenings are comprehensive, covering blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol and uric acid,” he said.

Arifin said around 3,500 residents in attendance also had the chance to win prizes through a draw or door prize, including bicycles and mobile phones.

According to him, the activity was part of the independence commemoration series as well as a momentum to deliver direct benefits to the community.

The People’s Party at the HKSN Monument took place in a festive atmosphere and was attended by residents from seven urban villages in Senen District. “Hopefully the people will become more prosperous and we will all continue to make real contributions in filling the meaning of independence,” said Arifin.
