Thousands of Residents Enthusiastic About the Padjadjaran Cultural Procession Commemoration Event

Residents from Gunung Puyuh Permai, Lilis, expressed delight and anticipation while waiting for the procession in front of Sumedang Town Square. The Kirab Budaya Napak Tilas Padjadjaran began with the parade of the Mahkota Binokasih crown, accompanied by a golden carriage. The procession passed through the main roads of Sumedang Regency.

“I’m happy to see cultural events like this; I brought my child and husband to watch at the town square,” said Lilis in a written statement on Monday (11/5/2026).

Asep, from the Asep Sumedang community group, supported the commemoration of the Sunda Tatar. According to him, cultural activities must be continuously preserved and introduced to young people.

“I agree if it’s held every year,” said Asep.

An iced tea vendor at Santi Square admitted that three gallons of iced tea had already been sold during the Kirab Budaya Napak Tilas Padjadjaran, whereas on ordinary days only one gallon is sold.

“Alhamdulillah, if there are events like this, sales increase a lot. May events like this happen often so that sales are high,” said Santi.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) stated that every cultural activity will certainly have a positive impact on the local community’s economy.

“The economic potential is definitely high. Every such activity also gives birth to new micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM),” said KDM.

“This was quite sudden; next year Sumedang will certainly dress up, and the potential will be much better,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir mentioned that hotel rooms are full with guests wanting to take a long holiday while watching the cultural procession.

“Hotels are full, restaurants are full, and I’m sure UMKM in Sumedang are happy and developing. Thank you for the initiative of this event in Sumedang,” he concluded.
