Thousands of Red and White Cooperatives in Central Java Lack Buildings
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOYOLALI – The Governor of Central Java (Jateng), Ahmad Luthfi, stated that as many as 6,271 units of Village/Urban Red and White Cooperatives (KDKMP) have been operating in the province. However, of this number, only 2,769 units have buildings. The remaining 3,502 units do not yet have buildings.
“The number of KDKMP buildings that have been built in Central Java is 2,679. This will continue to increase. As for those that are already operational, there are 6,271 cooperatives,” said Luthfi after attending the inauguration of 1,061 KDKMPs by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto online at the KDKMP Kragilan, Mojosongo District, Boyolali Regency, Saturday (May 16, 2026).
According to Luthfi, even though many KDKMPs in Central Java do not have buildings, they still operate. He gave an example that there are KDKMPs that operate even though they only have one or two outlets.
Luthfi said that he had asked the Provincial Cooperative and SME Office (Dinkop) of Central Java and the cooperative offices of regencies/cities to work together with Kodam IV/Diponegoro in an effort to accelerate the construction of KDKMP buildings.
Regarding the inauguration of 1,061 KDKMPs by President Prabowo Subianto, which was centered in Nganjuk, East Java (Jatim), as many as 531 cooperatives were located in Central Java. Meanwhile, the other 530 are located in East Java.
The 531 KDKMPs inaugurated in Central Java have buildings resulting from accelerated construction in collaboration with Kodam IV/Diponegoro. The details of the distribution of these KDKMPs are as follows: 41 points in the area of Korem 071/Wijayakusuma, 103 points in Korem 072/Pamungkas, 55 points in Korem 073/Makutarama, and 332 points in Korem 074/Warastratama.
The story of KDKMPs without buildings
The Chairperson of the Red and White Village Cooperative (KKMP) Siswodipuran in Boyolali Regency, Central Java, Edi Muhamad Ismail, revealed that since it started operating in September 2025, the KKMP he leads has not had a building and other supporting facilities. All operational activities of the KKMP are carried out by borrowing space at the Siswodipuran Village Office.
Edi said that to his knowledge, there are three KKMPs in Boyolali that do not yet have buildings. One of the reasons is that the village does not have land assets that can be used to build a KKMP building.
“We are still using a room at the Siswodipuran Village Office which measures only 3x4 meters,” said Edi after attending the Regional Working Meeting of the Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dekopinwil) Central Java Region at Wisma Perdamaian, Semarang City, April 14, 2026.
