The Ramadhan atmosphere this year feels different. Thousands of residents and online motorcycle taxi drivers have crowded the PANsar Murah Ramadhan site. They arrived from midday until breaking fast, queuing to obtain 5 kg of subsidised rice and THR distributed directly by Uya Kuya, a member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), and Astrid Kuya, a member of the Jakarta Provincial Council (DPRD DKI). The event, organised in collaboration with the National Mandate Party (PAN), is not just any bargain market. From a distance, the crowd’s chants calling Uya’s name could be heard. Many came not only to redeem cheap rice but also to meet the public representatives they’ve seen on television.

“I thought it was just a formality; turns out it’s being served directly by Bang Uya. Really impressive,” said Egi, one of the ojol drivers queuing.

PANsar Ramah Ramadhan is designed as a tangible act of care towards the community. In the face of rising basic necessities ahead of Eid, the 5 kg rice redemption and THR distribution provide a welcome boost, especially for ojol drivers and residents nearby.

Astrid Kuya was equally active. With warmth, she greeted the women who arrived while ensuring everything ran orderly. “Alhamdulillah, so happy to meet in person. Mrs. Astrid is very friendly, not at all stuffy,” said Ibu Cuning, a local resident.

Many residents also expressed appreciation for PAN’s General Chair, Zulkifli Hasan. They say such programs show PAN’s consistency in its commitment to helping the people.

“Thank you to Pak Zulhas. Programs like this are what we need, not just promises but action,” said Angga, an ojol driver from Cipulir.

“Hopefully there will be more events like this often. It really helps with extra groceries at home.”
