Thousands of Muslims attend Eid al-Adha prayers at Klungkung's Alun-Alun

A solemn atmosphere was felt during the Eid al-Adha prayers of 1447 Hijriah at Alun-Alun Ida Dewa Agung Jambe in Semarapura, Klungkung, Bali, this morning. The recitation of takbir since dawn added to the devotion of the sacrificial festival in Gumi Serombotan. Muslims continued to arrive, filling Klungkung’s Alun-Alun from 6:00 AM WITA on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Attendees came not only from the city area but also from surrounding districts of Klungkung sub-district. The Eid prayers commenced around 7:00 AM WITA. Male and female worshippers formed neat rows across the square, with Mount Agung rising in the east as the sun gradually rose. ‘Alhamdulillah, hundreds of Muslims gathered today to perform Eid al-Adha prayers at Puputan Square (Ida Dewa Agung Jambe). This reflects their recognition of today’s sacred and joyous occasion,’ said Klungkung MUI Chairman Agus Radiman. Agus explained that Eid al-Adha prayers in Klungkung are held annually at Alun-Alun Ida Dewa Agung Jambe. He added that the community’s happiness during Eid coincides with pilgrims performing Hajj. ‘Following this, we will collectively slaughter the sacrificial animals,’ Agus added. PHBI Klungkung Chairman Adriansyah stated that Klungkung’s Muslim community is sacrificing 154 goats and 42 cattle this year. ‘Alhamdulillah, this number has increased from last year,’ he said. The Eid al-Adha prayers were conducted solemnly and smoothly. Dozens of personnel from Klungkung Police and Kodim 1610/Klungkung were deployed to ensure security throughout the ceremony. Meanwhile, the Klungkung Regency Government monitored the Eid al-Adha prayers directly. Regent I Made Satria and Deputy Regent Tjokorda Gde Surya Putra had presented a sacrificial cow to MUI Klungkung several days before Eid.
