Thousands of Mangrove Seedlings Planted in Rusunawa Marunda Area

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Thousands of mangrove seedlings were planted in the coastal area of Rusunawa Marunda as an effort to preserve the environment and mitigate climate change in coastal regions.

“Protecting the coastal ecosystem is very important, and mangrove planting efforts offer numerous benefits,” said Marunda Ward Head Vicktor Hotma Parulian in Jakarta on Thursday.

He stated that the various benefits from this mangrove planting include preventing abrasion, improving environmental quality, and serving as habitats for various marine biota.

Viktor assessed this activity as highly positive and hoped it would provide long-term impacts for the environment. “This also increases public awareness of the importance of protecting nature,” he said.

According to him, this activity is the result of collaboration with Pupuk Indonesia as part of efforts to preserve the environment and mitigate climate change in coastal areas.

Meanwhile, a representative from Pupuk Indonesia also conveyed that this programme is part of the company’s commitment to supporting sustainability programmes and environmental social responsibility.

With this activity, it is hoped that the Marunda coastal area will become greener and more protected, as well as able to provide ecological and social benefits for the surrounding community. The mangrove planting was carried out symbolically and continued with mass planting in the coastal area around Rusunawa Marunda, with a total of 3,000 mangrove stems planted.
