Thousands of Hectares of Rice Fields in Banten Affected by Drought
The prolonged dry season has caused rice fields in several areas of Banten to suffer from drought. This condition was evident in Mauk, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Wednesday (23/09/2026), as residents walked through paddy fields that are beginning to lose their water sources.
The Banten Provincial Agriculture Office recorded that as of 14 September 2026, the total area of rice fields affected by drought across several regions has reached 2,897.55 hectares. This situation presents a significant challenge for farmers, as the reduced availability of water can hinder crop growth and disrupt essential agricultural management activities.
