Thousands of Gen Z learn financial management using wondrZ
Jember, East Java (ANTARA) - Thousands of Generation Z individuals are learning to manage their finances independently using the wondrZ product, a dedicated savings account for children and teenagers accessible through the wondr by BNI application, which can be monitored directly by parents.
“Since the product was launched in the fourth week of August until 30 September 2024, there have been 2,196 active users recorded within the BNI Regional Office 18 Malang working area, spanning from Pacitan Regency to Banyuwangi,” said Arif Setiyono, Regional Business Support Head of BNI Regional Office 18 Malang, during a mini media gathering in Jember Regency, East Java, on Thursday.
He stated that the new product is designed to help children recognise and manage finances from an early age, while simultaneously providing convenience for parents to monitor their children’s financial activities.
“The product also serves as financial literacy for children aged 12 and above, helping them build healthy financial habits from an early age through a banking experience appropriate for their age group, while their accounts remain linked to their parents’ accounts,” he explained.
He noted that public response to the new product has been quite positive because parents can monitor wondrZ transactions in real-time, serving as a bridge for children to learn how to manage money wisely before they obtain their national identity cards (KTP).
“Transactions within the app for Generation Z are also limited to a maximum of Rp500,000 per day. All transactions can be controlled and known by parents. If a child’s account usage becomes excessive, parents have the ability to block it,” he said.
Arif expressed hope that this new product would encourage children to develop saving habits from an early age and allow them to shop without using cash, while parents can still monitor transactions through real-time notifications sent to their mobile phones.
As part of the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem, BNI continues to support the SOE transformation agenda, which prioritises human resource development, capability strengthening, and the creation of long-term benefits as essential components of sustainable growth.
The introduction of this new product represents BNI’s contribution to preparing a younger generation that is increasingly financially literate from an early age.
