Thousands of Electric Vehicles Projected to Enter Bali During Nyepi and Eid Holidays; PLN Ensures Hundreds of Charging Stations Ready to Serve
PT PLN (Persero) has ensured that the electrical system in Bali is secure to meet demands during two major religious occasions: Nyepi Day and Eid Al-Fitr 2026. Electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure has been strengthened to support tourist mobility whilst accelerating the clean energy transition on the Island of Bali.
Adi Priyanto, Director of Retail and Commerce at PT PLN (Persero), stated that the company had conducted comprehensive checks from generation, transmission, distribution, to the readiness of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) at various strategic locations in Bali.
“All our preparations have been checked from generation, transmission, distribution to customer service. Including SPKLU facilities in Bali. Our personnel are on standby 24 hours across three shifts to ensure electric vehicle users receive safe and comfortable service,” said Adi, as quoted on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
He revealed that PLN estimates approximately 4,500 electric vehicles will enter Bali during the holiday and tourism activity period. To support this mobility, PLN has prepared 142 SPKLU distributed across various locations such as tourist areas, shopping centres, and major travel routes.
“We ensure that tourists visiting Bali who use electric vehicles will not experience difficulties in charging,” he added.
Beyond ensuring electrical reliability, PLN is also promoting the integration of the electric vehicle ecosystem in shopping centre areas. Three SPKLU units are already available at Trans Studio Mall Bali, serving electric vehicle users.
PLN Icon Plus Chief Executive Officer Anton stated that the electric vehicle charging facilities at that location will be upgraded in the future to accommodate increasing user demand.
“Currently three medium-type SPKLU units are available and are being used quite extensively. Moving forward, we plan to increase capacity to fast charging and ultra-fast charging to better meet user needs,” he said.
He added that PLN is also exploring the integration of electric vehicle charging services with the Trans Studio Mall application so that electric vehicle users can enjoy various promotions from tenants while charging.
