Thousands of Electric Motorcycles for Free Nutritious Meals Programme Pile Up in Sentul, Bogor Prosecutor's Office Ready to Step In

The presence of thousands of electric motorcycle units allocated for the operational needs of the Free Nutritious Meals programme has drawn public attention after they were seen piled up in the Sentul area of Bogor Regency. Responding to the phenomenon, the Bogor District Prosecutor’s Office declared its readiness to conduct oversight and intervene to ensure there are no irregularities in the management of these state assets. The accumulation of electric motorcycles, predominantly white and green, was reported to be at a temporary storage site in Sentul in very large numbers. These two-wheeled vehicles were originally intended to be used as a food distribution fleet for the government’s flagship programme to improve the nutrition of schoolchildren across various regions. The Head of the Bogor District Prosecutor’s Office emphasised that his party will monitor the progress of the asset distribution. This step is taken as a preventive function of the prosecutor’s office in safeguarding national strategic projects so they are on target and do not become derelict. The prosecutor’s office stressed the importance of transparency in the procurement of goods and services, especially those directly related to public welfare programmes such as Free Nutritious Meals. If elements of deliberate action are found that hinder distribution and cause damage to the assets, the prosecutor’s office will not hesitate to take legal action according to its authority. The Free Nutritious Meals programme requires high mobility to reach schools in remote areas. The accumulation of the electric motorcycle fleet at one location is feared to disrupt the implementation schedule of the programme at the regional level. The public hopes that the technical and administrative obstacles will be resolved immediately so the motorcycles can be operational without delay.
