Thousands of Civil Service Candidate Positions to Open in 2026, Here is How to Apply

The government has issued a strong signal that it will reopen Civil Service Candidate (CPNS) selection in the 2026 fiscal year. This step is being taken to meet the growing needs of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), particularly to fill positions left vacant by approximately 160,000 employees retiring in 2025.

The Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (MenPAN-RB), Rini Widyantini, has issued letter number B/1553/M.SM.01.00/2026 dated 12 March 2026. The letter instructs all Personnel Development Officials (PPK) at central and regional agencies to promptly submit proposals for ASN requirements in 2026.

To date, the government is still validating proposals received from various agencies. However, it is predicted that thousands of positions will be available to the general public, including fresh graduates.

The main focus of 2026 recruitment includes filling vacancies from retirement and supporting bureaucratic regeneration and national digital transformation.

The government emphasises that the formulation of recruitment positions this time must be based on Presidential Regulation Number 139 of 2024 concerning the restructuring of ministries and agencies.
