Thousands of Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Recalled Over Brake System Fault

Chinese automaker Chery has initiated a recall campaign for 5,556 units of its Tiggo 8 Pro Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in Australia, covering models produced between 2023 and 2026. The recall, reported on Saturday (27/6), addresses a potential defect where the brake line may chafe against the engine, leading to damage. A recall notice filed with the Department of Infrastructure states that the manufacturing defect could result in a damaged brake pipe due to friction. Chery has notified affected vehicle owners and will contact them in writing to arrange a no-cost inspection and repair appointment with a local dealer. The SUV is equipped with a comprehensive suite of braking safety features, including ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, and Electronic Stability Program, as well as Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, and Autonomous Emergency Braking as part of its ADAS package.
