Thousand Islands transport management transfer still under review

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub DKI) Budi Awaluddin has said that the process of transferring transport management in the Thousand Islands from Dishub DKI to Transjakarta is currently in the study phase. “The process is currently in an intensive study phase. We hope that the scheme and roadmap along with the detailed plan can be completed soon with the best results,” Budi said when contacted in Jakarta on Saturday. Budi said that this sea Transjakarta service will be part of a special gift for Jakarta’s 500th anniversary in 2027. Moreover, it will be a gift for the residents of the Thousand Islands. Budi further said that in this process, his agency is not working alone but together with all relevant parties. “The institutional and regulatory needs are being studied together with Transjakarta, the Regional-Owned Enterprises Development Agency (BPBUMD), the Bureau of Organisation and Bureaucratic Reform, and other related regional working units (SKPD) of the Jakarta Provincial Government,” Budi explained. From a regulatory perspective, Budi said his agency is also preparing the necessary legal umbrella, both in the form of regional regulations and gubernatorial regulations, which will regulate, among other things, the setting of fares and subsidies, institutional arrangements, the form of assignment and agreements, and the transition period of management from Dishub to Transjakarta. “For operational activities and technical support, in the future it will be managed by Transjakarta. So not only the vessels, but the management of the port area will also be carried out by Transjakarta,” Budi explained.
