Thousand Islands to get police post

JAKARTA: The Kepulauan Seribu or Thousand Islands regency will soon have a police precinct, with construction of the building beginning on Tuesday.

Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani attending the groundbreaking ceremony, expressed his hope the presence of the new office would ease the work of North Jakarta Police who are currently responsible for security and service in the area.

The construction of the building, which would cost the police and the administration Rp 5.4 billion, will be followed by the establishment of a police dormitory, Kepulauan Seribu Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Boy Rapi Amar said. -- JP
