Thousand Islands Regency Ensures Healthy, Sharia-Compliant Sacrificial Animals for Idul Adha

The Thousand Islands Regency government has confirmed that sacrificial animals distributed to the Thousand Islands for the 1447 Hijriah Idul Adha are healthy and comply with Islamic Sharia law.

“We conducted animal health checks at Muara Angke prior to their departure for the Thousand Islands, confirming they are healthy and compliant with Islamic Sharia law,” said Nurliati, Head of the Thousand Islands Sub-District Office for Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (Sudin KPKP), in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She added that all livestock sent had undergone health checks and were declared healthy and fit for sacrifice.

She further stated that to ensure the animals arrive in good condition, dozens of officials have been deployed to inspect them upon arrival on each island until the day of slaughter.

Health checks are also conducted at the slaughter sites.

“We have engaged the Indonesian Veterinary Association to ensure all sacrificial animals sent to the islands are healthy,” Nurliati said.

“The distribution of sacrificial animals is being carried out using traditional vessels KM Pesona Alam and KM Bima from Muara Angke Port,” said Thousand Islands Regent Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan on Monday (25 May).

Due to the Thousand Islands’ geographical nature as a maritime region, preparations for animal distribution began well in advance.

From the mainland, animals are transported by ship to populated islands according to their destinations.

“Animals transported by ship undergo preliminary checks, particularly on mouth and hoof health,” Fadjar said.
