The Thousand Islands Regency has distributed 46 sacrificial animals, including cattle, goats, and sheep, to inhabited islands within the Jakarta archipelago ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH. Thousand Islands Regency Regent Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan stated on Monday that the distribution used traditional vessels KM Pesona Alam and KM Bima from Muara Angke Port. He explained that preparations were made well in advance due to the region’s maritime geography, with animals transported by ship to specific island destinations. All livestock underwent health checks, particularly for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). Fadjar praised donors for their contributions, noting rising community interest in sacrificial offerings this year. The initiative aims to diversify the local diet, which primarily consists of fish. The total comprises nine goats and 37 cattle, including animals donated by President Prabowo Subianto, Governor Pramono Anung, Deputy Governor Rano Karno, and other prominent figures. He thanked donors for supporting the community’s Eid al-Adha needs.
