Thousand Islands KPKP Strengthens Efforts to Safeguard Sustainability of Aquaculture Sector
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Suku Dinas Ketahanan Pangan, Kelautan dan Pertanian (KPKP) of the Thousand Islands continues to strengthen efforts to maintain the sustainability of the aquaculture sector by conducting routine supervision and monitoring of fish farming groups in the area. “Today, monitoring of marine fish farming environmental health is being carried out on several islands by the KPKP Department,” said the Head of the Fisheries Section of the Sudin KPKP Thousand Islands, Gamma Eka Anantha, in Jakarta on Thursday. The activity targets several Fish Farming Groups (Pokdakan) starting from Pokdakan Pulau Lancang, Pulau Tidung, Pulau Kelapa, and Pulau Panggang. Gamma stated that the monitoring, involving a team from the Centre for Production, Inspection, and Certification of Fishery Products (PPISHP) along with the fisheries division and the Sudin KPKP Thousand Islands, is a crucial step in maintaining the sustainability of marine fish farming in the region. “This monitoring is not merely routine sampling, but part of a comprehensive strategy to detect changes in water environmental quality early,” he said. According to him, healthy water environmental conditions are the main factor in supporting the productivity and quality of aquaculture products, so periodic supervision needs to be continuously carried out to anticipate potential disruptions promptly. Therefore, he hopes that fish farmers in the Thousand Islands will become increasingly aware of the importance of maintaining water environmental quality. “Thus, the aquaculture sector can continue to develop sustainably,” said Gamma.
