Civil society is calling for the establishment of a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to expose the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The presence of a TGPF is hoped to reveal the intellectual actors behind the incident.

The demand was voiced during a public discussion titled “Monitoring the Thorough Investigation of the KontraS Activist Terror Case: Transfer to TNI Military Police Centre, Legal Solution or Controversy?” yesterday.

One of the speakers, Imparsial researcher Riyadh Putuhena, views the formation of a TGPF as an important step to ensure the case investigation proceeds transparently and comprehensively.

“This case cannot be seen as an isolated incident. We urge the immediate formation of a TGPF to clearly uncover, including who the intellectual actors are behind the terror against Andrie Yunus,” said Riyadh in a statement received by Republika on Thursday (2/4/2026).

He believes that the handling of the case so far has not been fully open. Especially after the transfer of the case from the Indonesian National Police to the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI).

“The process appears closed off. The public is not receiving adequate information, even though this case concerns the safety of civilians and freedom of opinion,” said Riyadh.

Another speaker, activist from the Indonesian Muslim Students’ Union (SEMMI) Muhamad Walid, stated that the handling of the case still leaves many questions unanswered to this day.

“From the beginning, this case has generated more controversy than clarity. The public still does not know who the perpetrators are and what the motive is,” said Walid.
