Thomas, Uber Cups face TV boycott

Seven private television stations threatened to boycott the
Thomas and Uber Cups in protest over the restriction in their
coverage during the championship.

The championship will run in Jakarta from May 7 to May 16,
2004.

Representatives of each of the seven channels -- ANTV,
Indosiar, Lativi, RCTI, SCTV, TV7 and TPI -- filed a complaint
letter to the National Sports Council (KONI) on Wednesday, as
reported by detik.com.

They said they objected to the rule imposed on them by TV
right holder Trans TV banning them from taking pictures inside
the stadium during the matches.--JP
