This state-owned enterprise secures gas supply through to 2035
Petrokimia Gresik, an agro-industrial solutions company and member of the holding company PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), continues to strengthen long-term gas supply resilience to support the sustainability of national fertiliser production. This effort is realized through strengthening gas-supply cooperation from the MDA-MBH Field in the Madura Strait and the Ketapang Working Area (WK) in the North of Madura Island.
Through the strengthened cooperation, Petrokimia Gresik is potentially able to secure an additional gas supply of around 30–35 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) to bolster the reliability of the company’s operations and support the sustainability of fertiliser production and other agro-industrial products through to 2035.
This strategic step is marked by the signing of a Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) between Petrokimia Gresik and Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) for the MDA-MBH Field, witnessed directly by SKK Migas head Djoko Siswanto, and the signing of a Head of Agreement (HoA) with PC Ketapang II Ltd regarding the planned gas sale and purchase cooperation in the Ketapang Working Area.
Petrokimia Gresik’s President Director, Daconi Khotob, personally signed both agreements with the relevant parties in Tangerang recently.
Daconi stated that strengthening synergy between the fertiliser industry and the energy sector is a strategic step to maintain production continuity while supporting national food security.
‘Natural gas is one of the main raw materials in fertiliser production. Therefore, gas supply certainty and strengthened collaboration with energy suppliers are part of the company’s commitment to maintaining operational continuity and supporting productivity in the agriculture sector nationwide,’ said Daconi.
ASSURED GAS SUPPLY
Through the cooperation, Petrokimia Gresik reinforces the certainty of gas supply to support the company’s operational continuity. The signing of the HoA with Ketapang II Ltd also marks an initial step in strengthening long-term gas-supply collaboration to bolster the company’s energy supply reliability in the future.
This collaboration also reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to building a reliable, adaptive, and sustainable energy-supply system. Daconi added that collaboration between the fertiliser industry and the energy sector plays a strategic role in maintaining national fertiliser production stability amid global industry dynamics.
‘Cross-sector synergy is a fundamental foundation to bolster national industrial resilience. Petrokimia Gresik remains committed to building strategic partnerships that bring long-term benefits for the agriculture sector and Indonesia’s food security,’ he added.
The PJBG between Petrokimia Gresik and HCML was signed by Petrokimia Gresik’s President Director, Daconi Khotob, together with HCML’s General Manager, Wang Kaifei, who was represented by HCML’s VP Marketing, Legal, and Business Support Wahyudin Sunarya. Meanwhile, the HoA with Ketapang II Ltd was signed by Daconi Khotob together with Ketapang II Ltd’s President Director, Yuzaini Md Yusof. (E-2)
