Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Petrol stations in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan, are implementing restrictions on purchases of subsidised fuel, particularly Pertalite. The measures, in force from 8 to 14 October 2026, include an odd-even licence plate system and daily quotas.

Edi Mangun, Area Manager for Communications, Relations and CSR at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Kalimantan Regional Office, said the company was continuing to coordinate with petrol station operators to ensure the service rules were clearly communicated. He also urged residents to plan refuelling according to their daily needs and the final digit of their vehicle’s registration plate.

“We understand that people need to fit refuelling into their daily activities. Pertamina continues to coordinate with petrol stations so that the service requirements are communicated clearly and are easy to understand,” Edi said, as quoted by Detikcom on Sunday (11 October 2026).

The extended restrictions are based on Sintang Regent’s Circular Letter No. 500.10.1/359/INDAGKOP-C on the extension of odd-even rules and the regulation of Pertalite services. It was issued on 6 October 2026.

Under the odd-even system, vehicles with an odd final registration-plate digit (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9) may refuel on odd-numbered dates, while those with an even final digit (0, 2, 4, 6 or 8) may do so on even-numbered dates.

Sintang Regency Government has also set daily Pertalite purchase limits of Rp50,000, or five litres, for two-wheeled vehicles, and Rp300,000, or 30 litres, for four-wheeled vehicles.

Petrol stations are prohibited from serving repeat purchases on the same day and from refuelling modified tanks. They must also verify that the MyPertamina QR code matches the vehicle’s registration plate.

“Residents are advised to check that their refuelling date matches the final digit of their vehicle’s registration plate before going to a petrol station, and to buy fuel according to their needs,” he said.

For purchases using jerrycans, petrol station operators may serve only customers with a recommendation letter from the relevant agency.
