This Morning, Ministry of Defence Holds Send-Off for Thousands of ASN Reserve Component Candidates at Monas
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) held a send-off event for prospective Reserve Component (Komcad) members from civil servants (ASN) across ministries and agencies at the Monas area on Monday morning (13/4/2026).
Based on observations at the location at 07.30 WIB, the southern side field of Monas in Central Jakarta, thousands of ASN had already filled the Monas area since early morning.
They arrived gradually and immediately took their places in the rows prepared by the organising committee.
The atmosphere at the site was orderly, with arrangements managed by officers guarding the surrounding area.
Additionally, the ASN participants’ belongings were placed behind the participant rows, ranging from suitcases to bags containing equipment for the Komcad training.
The TNI stated that this training is voluntary and without coercion.
This month marks the beginning of Komcad training for ASN personnel.
The training will be held for one and a half months at the headquarters of Marine Troops (Pasmar) 1.
The educational materials for ASN trainees to become Komcad are prepared by the Marines, covering the development of attitudes and behaviour through strengthening spiritual mental, ideological mental, and basic values of national defence, as well as a fighting spirit.
In addition, participants will receive training in basic military knowledge and skills such as drill regulations, military salute procedures, military ceremony protocols, and military service regulations.
“(There are also materials on) legal knowledge, weapons knowledge, seamanship, and maritime defence areas,” said the Head of the Marine Corps Information Service, Colonel (Mar) Rana Karyana, when contacted on Friday (27/2/2026).
“In principle, Komcad education for ASN is not intended to turn them into active soldiers, but rather to build readiness, discipline, and understanding of the national defence system, so that if the state calls upon them, they will already have adequate foundational preparation,” said Rana.
