Jakarta, Kompas.com - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno has revealed several steps taken by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to maintain the purchasing power of workers in the capital.

One of them is the Jakarta Workers’ Card (KPJ), whose services continue to be developed since 2018.

“Until now, more than 59,000 KPJ have been issued with various benefits,” said Rano Karno during his speech at the commemoration of the ‘International Labour Day PDI Perjuangan 2026’ at GOR Otista, East Jakarta, on Sunday (3/5/2026).

In addition, according to Rano, the free public transportation policy has also been expanded to 15 groups of society.

This includes certain worker groups, making mobility more efficient and affordable.

Rano continued that various other programmes are also being strengthened, such as the KJP (Jakarta Smart Card), KLJ (Jakarta Elderly Card), KPDJ (Jakarta Disability Card), KAJ (Jakarta Children’s Card), food subsidies, and health assurance through Jamkesda as part of ongoing efforts to maintain community welfare.

“All these policies are directed towards one goal: maintaining purchasing power, improving worker welfare,” Rano stated.

“And ensuring that social justice is present in tangible form in people’s lives,” he added.

The International Labour Day commemoration agenda by PDI Perjuangan on Saturday was attended by hundreds of workers.

International Labour Day or May Day is commemorated every 1 May each year.
