This is Why Rosan Says the Investment Trend in Indonesia Remains Positive Despite Global Turbulence

Indonesia’s Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, assesses that the investment trend in Indonesia continues to show a positive direction despite the world being overshadowed by geopolitical turmoil. This optimism is not without basis. According to him, the significant surge in the issuance of Business Identification Numbers (NIB) serves as concrete proof that business activities continue to flourish. “In the previous 12 months, there were only about 1.3 million, but now in five months, it has already reached 1.8 million,” said Rosan, as quoted from the DPR RI YouTube channel, Tuesday (14/4/2026). In the period from October 2025 to 8 April 2026, or about five months, a total of 1.8 million new NIBs were recorded as issued. This figure even exceeds the achievement of the previous 12 months, which was only about 1.3 million NIBs. Business Interest Remains High Cumulatively, since 2021 to April 2026, the total recorded NIBs have reached 15.8 million. This surge serves as a strong signal that interest in investment, both domestic and foreign, remains very high. “Many say that global conditions can reduce the desire to do business, but our figures do not show that. The business world continues to move,” he said. Digital Transformation in Licensing Rosan also emphasised the importance of reforming the licensing system through strengthening the Online Single Submission (OSS). This system is now integrated with 18 ministries and institutions, enabling it to accelerate the licensing process while minimising face-to-face interactions that could potentially cause uncertainty.
