This is the Cost of Converting to an Electric Motorcycle
JAKARTA – One of the most common questions from people interested in converting petrol motorcycles to electric ones is about the cost. The cost of electric motorcycle conversion does not have a fixed benchmark. This is because each job depends heavily on the needs and desires of the consumer. Abdulah from Dolland Motor Electric said that the conversion price is very flexible, especially for individual users. “So, we can’t have a fixed price, but the range is around Rp 15 million and up,” he said. According to him, the cost can increase depending on the specifications desired, such as battery capacity or motor performance. Meanwhile, for government programmes, the conversion costs tend to be more uniform because they are determined in certain packages. “If it’s a government-scale programme, it’s around Rp 17 million, if I’m not mistaken, something like that,” he said. Tomy explained that electric motorcycle conversion is not just replacing the engine with an electric motor and battery. The process is far more complex because it involves many components. He added that there are many other components that must be installed and adjusted so that the motorcycle can function properly. “There are many other components like battery packs, cables, DC-DC, DPS, pulley, and so on. The total can be around 20 to 25 items,” he said.
