Police have designated the driver, HM (25), as a suspect following his reckless driving and driving against traffic, which resulted in collisions with several vehicles in Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta. “For this traffic incident, the perpetrator will be charged under Article 311, paragraphs 1, 2, and 3, for driving a vehicle in a manner that endangers other road users. The text of Article 311:

  1. Anyone who intentionally drives a Motor Vehicle in a manner or condition that endangers life or property shall be punished with a maximum imprisonment of 1 (one) year or a maximum fine of Rp3,000,000.00 (three million rupiah).

  2. In the event that the act as referred to in paragraph (1) results in a Traffic Accident with damage to Vehicles and/or goods as referred to in Article 229 paragraph (2), the perpetrator shall be punished with a maximum imprisonment of 2 (two) years or a maximum fine of Rp4,000,000.00 (four million rupiah).

  3. In the event that the act as referred to in paragraph (1) results in a Traffic Accident with minor injuries and damage to Vehicles and/or goods as referred to in Article 229 paragraph (3), the perpetrator shall be punished with a maximum imprisonment of 4 (four) years or a maximum fine of Rp8,000,000.00 (eight million rupiah).

Other Crimes Being Investigated

In addition to the traffic offense, the suspect HM will also be investigated for other potential crimes, including alleged license plate forgery and the discovery of sharp weapons and toy guns.

“The Central Jakarta Criminal Investigation Unit is currently investigating these additional findings,” he said.

Discovery of 4 License Plates

Police revealed that several license plates were found in the Toyota Calya car that was driven recklessly and caused collisions with several vehicles in Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta. Police are currently investigating the purpose of these license plates.

“Inside the car, 4 pairs of different license plates were found, two B plates, 1 G plate, and 1 B plate,” said Komarudin.

The four license plates are: B-1235-NIL, B-2932-BZF, G-1877-ZZ, and D-1640-AHB. The Central Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit is currently investigating the purpose of these four license plates.

“We are still investigating the purpose of these license plates,” he said.

The incident occurred on Jalan Dr. Sutomo, near the Pasar Baru bus stop, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (February 25) at approximately 5:00 PM. The driver drove recklessly and against traffic, causing collisions with several vehicles. Several vehicles were reported to have been damaged as a result of the driver’s actions. Meanwhile, one motorcyclist was reported to have been injured as a result of the perpetrator’s actions.
